چکیده

In natural language processing many practical tasks, such as speech recognition, information retrieval and machine translation depend on a large vocabulary and statistical language models. For morphologically rich languages, such as Finnish and Turkish, the construction of a vocabulary and language models that have a sufficient coverage is particularly difficult, because of the huge amount of different word forms. In Morpho Challenge 2010 unsupervised and semi-supervised algorithms are suggested to provide morpheme analyses for words in different languages and evaluated in various practical applications. As a research theme, unsupervised morphological analysis has received wide attention in conferences and scientific journals focused on computational linguistic and its applications. This is the proceedings of the Morpho Challenge 2010 Workshop that contains one introduction article with a description of the tasks, evaluation and results and six articles describing the participating unsupervised and supervised learning algorithms. The Morpho Challenge 2010 Workshop was held at Espoo, Finland in 2-3 September, 2010.

Causality: Objectives and Assessment

The NIPS 2008 workshop on causality provided a forum for researchers from different horizons to share their view on causal modeling and address the difficult question of assessing causal models. There has been a vivid debate on properly separating the notion of causality from particular models such as graphical models, which have been dominating the field in the past few years. Part of the work...

Unsupervised Morpheme Analysis Evaluation by a Comparison to a Linguistic Gold Standard - Morpho Challenge 2008

The goal of Morpho Challenge 2008 was to find and evaluate unsupervised algorithms that provide morpheme analyses for words in different languages. Especially in morphologically complex languages, such as Finnish, Turkish and Arabic, morpheme analysis is important for lexical modeling of words in speech recognition, information retrieval and machine translation. The evaluation in Morpho Challen...

Selected morpho-chemical features of hemocytes in farmed shrimp, Fenneropenaeus indicus in Iran

The aim of the present study was to determine various types of hemocytes, total and differential hemocyte count and to show some indices of phagocytosis, including percent phagocytosis and phagocytic index in Indian white shrimp, Fenneropenaeus indicus in Iranian shrimp farms. The hemolymph was extracted from the shrimps and mixed with anticoagulant. It then stained and Yeast was added as forei...
